Information we collect, and where it goes
The “Find Your Method” quiz
When you take the quiz, we collect your email address and your answers about your foot symptoms — where it hurts, any visible signs, how long you’ve had it, when it bothers you, your activity level, and your goal. We use those answers to compute a product recommendation. Your email and a set of answer-derived fields are saved to your customer profile in Shopify and sent to Klaviyo, our email provider, so we can email you your plan and related guidance.
If the quiz suggests you should see a professional, we send no symptom data at all — only that you completed the quiz and that the outcome was a referral.
The shareable results link encodes your answers inside the link itself. Anyone you give that link to can read those answers from it. We do not store that link on our servers, and it contains only your numeric answers — not your name or email.
Product reviews you submit
When you write a review, we collect your name, email address, rating, review text, and any photos. Reviews are stored in our database (hosted by Vercel); photos are stored in Vercel’s file storage. Before a photo is stored we strip embedded metadata from it — including GPS location and camera EXIF — and re-encode it.
A published review shows your first name and last initial only and your photos; your email is never shown publicly. We keep your email while the review is published (to support the “verified buyer” badge); if a review is rejected or marked spam, we delete its email and remove its photos. The “verified buyer” badge means we matched your email to the contact email on a real order in Shopify — that lookup happens on our servers only.
Newsletter & back-in-stock signups
If you join our list, we send your email address to Klaviyo and subscribe you to our marketing list. You can unsubscribe from any email we send.
Shopping, checkout & payment
Your cart is managed through Shopify; a cart identifier is stored in your browser. Checkout is handled by Shopify’s hosted checkout — your shipping and payment details are collected and processed by Shopify and its payment processors. We do not see or store your card details.
Analytics & abuse prevention
We use Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics / Speed Insights to understand how the site is used and how fast it loads. When you sign up for the newsletter, request a back-in-stock notification, or complete the quiz, we forward your IP address and browser user-agent to Klaviyo for bot detection on that submission. In our own server logs we store only a one-way hash of your IP address, never the raw IP.
Service providers we share data with
- Shopify — store platform: catalog, cart, hosted checkout, order processing, customer accounts, and the quiz answer fields saved to your customer profile. To learn how Shopify handles data you submit through the store and any rights you may have, see Shopify’s consumer privacy information.
- Klaviyo — email marketing: stores your email and, for the quiz and newsletter, profile properties and event records used to send and segment emails.
- Vercel — hosting: serves the site, hosts the reviews database and review-photo storage, and provides traffic and performance analytics.
- Google — Google Analytics for usage analytics (sets cookies). Google Signals is turned off, so this analytics data is not used to build advertising profiles.
Cookies & browser storage
Analytics: Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics / Speed Insights set cookies and/or collect usage data.
Functional storage (not used for tracking): a cart identifier so your cart persists, your quiz progress so you can resume, and a flag that remembers you dismissed the announcement bar.
Health-adjacent information
The quiz asks about foot-pain symptoms, which is health-adjacent information. Depending on where you live, this may be treated as sensitive or special-category data — for example under the EU/UK GDPR (Article 9) or various US state health-privacy laws.
We minimize this data where we can — a referral outcome carries no symptom data — and we use your answers to generate your product recommendation. We do not sell or share this information for advertising, and you can ask us to access or delete it at any time.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the rights below. These rights are not absolute, may apply only in certain circumstances, and in some cases we may decline a request as permitted by law.
- Access / know the personal information we hold about you.
- Delete personal information we maintain about you.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Portability — receive a copy of your information and, in certain cases, have it transferred.
- Opt out of “sale” or “sharing” for targeted advertising. We do not currently sell or share your personal information for targeted advertising — Google Signals is turned off and we do not use Shopify Audiences — so there is nothing to opt out of here.
- Manage communications — opt out of marketing emails via the unsubscribe link in any email; we may still send account/order messages.
To exercise a right, contact us using the details below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising it. We may need to verify your identity, and you may use an authorized agent (with proof of authorization). We respond within the time required by law. To learn more about how Shopify uses your personal information and the rights you may have over data Shopify processes, visit privacy.shopify.com.
Children’s data
The Services are not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of majority in your jurisdiction. A parent or guardian may contact us to request deletion of a child’s information. As of the date of this policy, we do not have actual knowledge that we “sell” or “share” the personal information of individuals under 16.
Security & retention
No security measures are perfect, and information you send us may not be secure in transit — please do not use unsecure channels to send us sensitive information.
How long we keep your personal information depends on factors such as whether we need it to maintain your account, provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes and enforce our policies.
We delete a review’s email and photos when it is rejected or marked as spam, as described above.
International transfers
We may transfer, store, and process your personal information outside the country you live in. If we transfer personal information out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on recognized transfer mechanisms such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (or the UK equivalent), unless the destination has been found to provide an adequate level of protection.
Complaints
If you have a complaint about how we process your personal information, please contact us using the details below. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to appeal our decision, or to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for legal or operational reasons. We will post the revised policy here, update the “Last updated” date, and provide notice as required by law.
